Sea lampreys are prehistoric creatures that invaded the great lakes 80 years ago. It is ruining the fish population in the great lakes. Michigan State scientists are developing a way to get rid of the eel like animals.


These things are gross. We need to get them out of here. They are not harmful to us directly, but they do ruin our fishing sports.

The ban on tiger sales hasn't worked. One way we can solve this, according to John Stossel is to eat them. Just kidding. The way to go is better law enforcement.

That is true. If we ban the killing, prices of their pelt would sky rocket. This would cause more poaching and selling. If we also had better enforcement, then we could lock up all of the criminals.

The Federal Bureau to protect endangered species stated that they will not used the decline of polar bears to help reduce global emissions. The endangered species act protects animals from logging, hunting and fishing. But there is a dispute whether or not they should add climate change to the list.


Even though they would be using animals as an excuse, they should add climate change to the list, especially for northern animals. There is a link to polar bear deaths and global warming. Since the earth is getting warmer, the polar ice caps are melting, causing smaller ice shelf, making polar bears drown.

The Lions have always been terrible... 50 years worth. Which is why I don't understand why my papa will watch this team week in and week out. Which is why I will break down the recent drafts. draft since it was this weekend. Many will point the finger at Matt Millen, which is correct. What people don't realize is that he was a great hard-nosed player. When he was in the front office, he didn't draft hard-nosed player, which is what the Lions needed. He drafted soft players that whined and cried.

Now to this draft... The Lions had to try and screw up this draft... and they did. They took Stafford, and paid a ridiculous price to get an overrated player. Next, the drafted a tight end who clearly isn't a first rounder. Next pick, they were all set up to draft Ray Mauluga, A force in the middle. They took an ok safty from a MAC school.

If I were to pick, I would go with Aaron Curry, the best overall prospect. Next, Defensive Tackle Peria Jerry from Ole Miss. The third round pick would have been Center, Eric Wood; or Center, Max Unger.

I do not know about this who medical mumbo jumbo, but I do no that toxicity is bad. and if this treatment is good, then it is good for me. Just as long as it doesn't mutate like in the movie, I Am Legend.

PETA is being accused for "putting down" 96% of animals handed to them at their US headquarters. Out of 2,216 animals, 2,124 were put to sleep while 7 found homes. It is a sad day for PETA.


How ironic. PETA... killing animals. talk about an oxymoron. I have a strong dislike for PETA because they go against everything that is evolution. If we could put a man on the moon, then we could put a PETA member on the moon. Then we could put all of the PETA members on the moon. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Representatives for a factory hog farm will likely appeal the decision made in court. Richland Township in Missouri claimed that they have the right to regulate factory farms in their area. Unanimously, the court denied injunctive relief to the township board. The board first sued the factory farm due to township rule violations.


The town is doing the right in in suing. They need to show that they do not want those greedy animal abusers in their area. It gives them a bad name for their town... Just don't get PETA involved. They're a pain.

Fargo has been the victim of severe weather. First, the potential flooding of the Mississippi River. Next, a snow storm has blown in. Today, water has seeped into a local schools campus and flooded two buildings.

I feel so bad for Fargo. It's like that Iowa situation all over again. I am so glad that there is minimal flooding in this area. Weather in the great plains are so severe.

Mining group says EPA reviews could threaten coal jobs

The EPA declared that they will take a look at 150 to 200 mining applications. The reason is, is that the EPA wants to prevent the dumping of coal wastes in lakes and streams. The problem is, is that the EPA can threaten the jobs of 77,500 people.


There has to be a compromise here. We have to help protect the environment, but we also have to have jobs for people. Coal is the backbone on our nation, and we cannot turn our backs on them.

EPA Sued to Properly Assess Health Risks of Pesticides in the Water Supply

Earth Justice, a non profit organization, is suing the EPA for "failing to properly take into account the health and ecological risks of approved pesticides." Their claim is that there are 7 pesticides on the market that are considered to be dangerous to people.




Are there not any standards that the EPA poses for this? I'm pretty sure that there are, so these groups need to back down so the Government can investigate. People need to stop suing other people. I'm sure the EPA must have tested these products, and I'm sure that if they didn't, then they must have not known about these products, they could be on the black market cause a crack dealer cooked it up in a bathtub in his apartment in Cameron, New Jersey.

The Lazy Environmentalists are asking people to shop with reusable bags. They have decided to make the bags more "hip" and have a bit more attitude.


That's great that they have found a line of bags that suits them, but for me, I really don't want to walk around looking like a hippie, or a guy that just raided my sister's closet. I'm good for now, and I'll keep reusing the plastic bags I get for things like picking up doggie doo-doo, and cleaning out my car with them. Nice try LE, but I;m not going to sacrifice my dignity for your cause.

The European Union has allowed Austria and Hungary to ban the growing of GE foods from from Monsanto, an agricultural biotechnology cooperation. So far, only one GE crop is grown in Europe. A form of corn called MON 810.


I don't really know what GE foods are, or their advantages or disadvantages, but If Europe is taking a stand, then good for them. Because of this, Washington is upset, who keeps whining to the WTO about obstacles to plant GE crops.

FEMA is credited for the fault of Hurricane IKE. They denied 650,000 applicants for housing aid which means that 90% of people were ineligible.

The ethanol industry, once considered our savior in alternative energy is in grave danger. Because of our economic turmoil, driver's are driving less, which limits the use of gas and ethanol. Plans for factories to convert biodegradable items into ethanol are lagging, and might not even go into production.


That's a terrible shame! Another thing this economy has ruined, and it might actually save our planet. Good job banks and the real estate market, if it wasn't for you and your loans to unqualified people, we wouldn't be in this big of trouble. Now I have to smell Carbon Monoxide isntead of french fries.

An Atlanta legislator was to make a proposal to stop the kind of coal that the state is burning. It could possibly help utilities meet the air-quality standards.

I don't know what the fuss is all about. If Georgia gets coal that has less emissions, then they will be able to appease everyone... except themselves. But it's not like the coal is far away, it is just a coupl hundred miles to the north.

Westchester, New York has decided to take all of the cooking oil from their 3,500 restaurants and turning them into a cleaner alternative fuel source. Every 10,000 gallons of cooking oil obtained, Westchester could save around $25,000.



It's great that Westchester is doing this, as long as restaurants want to participate. Imagine, a car driving down the road, and instead of the exhaust smelling like carbon monoxide, it smells like someone is cooking in the kitchen. I want to know how cooking oil is cleaner. And what the process it takes to convert it into fuel. Do you just dump it in the gas tank? Or does it take a machiene to convert it?

In California, The Air Resource Board is finalizing a Scoping Plan for global warming. The Scoping Plan relies on "cap-and-trade in the tradition of the U.S. acid rain program, in combination with existing programs and traditional command-and-control mechanisms, to achieve most of the requisite emission reductions."

Even though this plan might be good, their still seems like something might be bad about it. Oh, Yeah, The threat of a catastrophic global climate change still looms. It is still great that they want to reduce the emissions to the levels it was in in 1990. The trouble is (as stated in my last post) is that even though they have hybrids, their famed Sunday driving that seems to be endless will doom them.

Two years ago, New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, made a speech about an environmental vision to help the planet. From then on, the trickle down effect has feed into small cities all over the country across America who want to try and reduce their carbon footprints.

It is great that small towns with populations of 1 to 10,000 people are trying to cut back on emissions. What we really need to try and do (which will be nearly impossible), is reach out to the major cities. Cities like Chicago, Miami, and Houston, need to be informed. The cities that needs it the most are cities in California. Yes, they drive foreign hybrids that get 48 MPG, but with all of their endless Sunday driving in the sun, does it really matter? The smog over LA on some days reminds me of Mexico City, or even China.

The European Commission wants the US and other wealthy nations to adopt a carbon trading plan that will cut down greenhouse emissions. Barack Obama has already been in talks about a similar carbon based tax system.


Europeans always takes the first steps in trying to better the Earth. It seems like at times, they are the only ones acting and actually caring. They started using wind and solar power as an alternative. They have also developed a way to use the Baltic Sea to generate turbines. Good for the Europeans, one day, they will save us all.

Because of recent population growth to Boise, Idaho, and the surrounding suburbs, Boise is on the brink of violating federal clean air standards. The population has doubled in the last two decades, causing traffic congestion.

Even though Boise is in the middle of nowhere (it's practically Oregon's Spain), It is still a very sad forthcoming. I've seen photos of Boise, and I have to say that this is a very beautiful place. But the picture next to the article tells a different story. Dense grey fog just surrounds the area as though it looks like Mexico, or Los Angelas.
